Gym in The City.

Backed by British private equity firm Encore Capital, Third Space, the operator of luxury health and fitness clubs has opened its new 27,000sq ft club at Minster Court in the City of London. The club is based within a luxury 300,000 sq ft re-development known as The Minster Building, which will include shops and offices set around the iconic City of London landmark.

The site will feature a pool, members' lounge, five group exercise studios, hot yoga studio and state of the art gym equipment. Personal Training sessions and classes, a laundry and medical services will be available to the customers.

Our London office has completed the full design for the MEP building services, from the concept to the commissioning on site. This project was special for us for many reasons.

Aspired by Zero Emission City guidelines, our priority was to find the most efficient energy solution to service the space without compromising on comfort of the gym members and staff. Installation of LED lighting throughout, application of heat recovery within air handling units, a boiler plant incorporating condensing technology and load matching inverter-driven energy efficient heat pumps are the technologies that have contributed to reducing the energy consumption.

Air quality is a critical factor for the gym, especially being located on the ground and basement floor of the building in the City, where outside air is heavily polluted. To ensure a clean air environment positioning of the air intakes were carefully considered, as well as air filters installed in the AHU to remove harmful particles from the air and incoming air stream being disinfected by UV lamps.

Also, space restrictions within the densely built up area of The City of London required careful planning and coordination of the design and installation teams.

We at CD International, being longstanding members of Third Space gym at London Bridge, appreciate high standards of interior finishes, and we worked very closely with interior designers to design, install and fine tune the engineering equipment, so it is discreet, silent, and does not distract customers from their training.
